Outlander Filming Locations Day Tour from Edinburgh
Description
Step into the world of Outlander on a full-day tour of some of Scotland's most iconic filming locations: Castle Leoch at Doune Castle, Lallybroch at Midhope Castle, and the villages of Culross and Linlithgow.
Our day begins on the historic Royal Mile before we head into the Scottish countryside in search of filming locations, historic castles and royal history, from the village of Cranesmuir to Jamie Fraser's Lallybroch.
Entrance to Doune Castle, the 14th-century fortress that plays Castle Leoch, home of Clan MacKenzie, is included. Fans may also recognise it from Game of Thrones and Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The day also takes in Linlithgow Palace, Wentworth Prison in Season 1, and the grand Hopetoun House, the Duke of Sandringham's estate, for a journey through the series' most beloved settings.

In the afternoon, visit Midhope Castle and Hopetoun House, arriving at the drop-off point in St Andrew Square at around 6 pm.
Departure from Edinburgh (9 am)
Culross
The picturesque Fife village that became Cranesmuir. Its cobbled streets and 17th-century buildings appear throughout the series, and again in Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
Doune Castle
This impressive 14th-century fortress served as Castle Leoch, home of Clan MacKenzie. Explore the great hall and courtyards and take in the views across the River Teith. Entrance is included.
Linlithgow
A lunch stop in this royal town beside Linlithgow Loch. Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, is Wentworth Prison, where Jamie was held in Season 1. Palace admission is an optional extra.
Midhope Castle
Better known as Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser's family home. See the castle exterior, wander the grounds and take your own photos. If filming or estate activities affect access, we visit an alternative location.
Hopetoun House
A magnificent 17th-century estate overlooking the Firth of Forth, a jewel of Scottish Baroque architecture and the Duke of Sandringham's residence in the series. Grounds and garden access is included. If the estate is closed, we visit Blackness Castle instead.
